Remembering 9/11

Hello from the Attic..... Although it's been a while since I have posted here I could not let today pass without marking this day of remembrance for those who lost their lives on September 11 2001......

No doubt due to the enormity of the tragic events that occurred that day most of us will remember where we were when we first heard the terrible news. I certainly do. I remember it was a very hot day and I was in St. Ives, Cornwall. I had just sat down outside a church which I had just visited to see an exhibition of patchwork quilts. My husband Andy telephoned to ask if I had heard the news, of course I hadn't. When he told me I could not comprehend the scale of devastation and lost of life. I remember then that the day took on a surreal atmosphere and it suddenly appeared very quite, which it wasn't. St. Ives was busy with local people and tourists, naturally going about as usual in the glorious sunshine. Many, like me, would not have known what had occurred across the other side of the world.....That moment in time would change forever the lives of many people from across the globe. And it is to those, the family and friends of those who lost their lives that day, that my thoughts are with today....

~~~
I thought of you today, but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too.
I think of you in silence, I often speak your name.
All I have are memories and a picture in a frame.
Your memory is a keepsake, from which I'll never part.
God has you in his arms. I have you in my heart
~~~

Until next time, take care...Hugs Chrissy xx
